GANADO Advocates announced the launch of its Secondment Programme in March 2013 and the programme is now in its second year. The programme’s goal is to strengthen ties with law firms with which we have regular collaboration and for individual lawyers to grow both on a personal and professional level.
The first year of GANADO’s secondment programme drew to a close last May and the firm has just launched it for a second year. The programme saw a successful first year as the firm recently welcomed back from the UK Dr. Matthew Mizzi who was seconded to Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP’s London office and Dr. Matthew Xerri who was seconded to the London office of Watson Farley & Williams. Both secondments were of great value to our secondees who returned with enhanced skills and experience.
Earlier on, the firm had welcomed back Dr. Nick Curmi from a valuable two year secondment with the New York office of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in New York. The programme’s latest secondee is Dr. Christopher Mallia, who started a six month secondment with Slaughter and May just this June (2014).
The programme is intended to work both ways. We are looking to place our lawyers on secondments within financial services, corporate and shipping practice areas for periods of at least three months extendable as desired but we are also willing to host lawyers within these areas and welcome exchanges of secondees, including on an exchange basis. Naturally, the functional and financial aspects of each secondment opportunity are discussed with the relevant firm on a case-by-case basis.
