The text of Directive 2014/17/EU on credit agreements for consumers relating to residential immovable property and amending Directives 2008/48/EC and 2013/36/EU and Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010 (the “Mortgage Credit Directive”) has been published in the Official Journal of the EU.

This Directive, which applies to credit agreements secured by a mortgage on residential immovable property, will enter into force on the 21st March 2014. Following this, Member States will have up until the 21st of March 2016 to transpose the same Directive and to adopt, publish and apply the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the Directive.
