On the 5th of July, GANADO Advocates organised a half-day workshop aimed at providing a practical overview of the steps required to be taken in the run-up to May 2018, when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force. The workshop, organised at GANADO Advocates’ offices in Valletta, was delivered by Mr Julian Boffa, who is an Insurance Regulatory Advisor within the firm’s Insurance and Pensions team.
The workshop was well attended by insurance professionals, data officers and representatives, compliance officers, analysts, and technical staff who are involved in risk and compliance and who wanted to gain insight into the new regulatory environment for re/insurance companies and intermediaries under the GDPR.
The topics covered during this workshop included:
- The requirements of the GDPR
- The role of the Data Protection Officer
- Carrying out of a gap analysis on data handling
- Road map preparation
- Documentation requirements
- Privacy impact assessments
- Data risks – real cases
Please contact us should you require any further information about GDPR.
