Since the handover of the EU Presidency in January 2015, the Latvian EU Presidency has continuously expressed its political commitment to adopt the Second Insurance Mediation Directive (renamed the Insurance Distribution Directive) by the end of its presidency (June 2015).

The first scheduled trilogue meeting was held on the 26th February 2015, solidifying further Latvia’s pledge to see the Directive through its adoption. Sources confirm that in their first meeting, the EU Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission discussed the scope of the Directive, ancillary insurance mediation and the possible introduction of product information documents.

The next trilogue meeting is schedule on the 30th March 2015.
