One of the most noteworthy amendments to the Trusts and Trustees Act, Chapter 331 of the Laws of Malta (TTA) that was brought about by Act XI of 2014 on 25 April 2014 was the introduction of the ‘Private Trust Company’ (PTC) within the context of the so-called ‘family trusts’.

After a long wait and after fruitful discussions held by STEP Malta with the MFSA, Parliament has finally enacted Act XXXI of 2017 on the 22nd December, 2017 which, amongst various financial services laws, also amends the Trusts and Trustees Act (Cap. 331 of the Laws of Malta; the “TTA”).
