Dr Matthew Brincat, Partner within GANADO Advocates’ Insurance and Pensions practice, and Mr James Farrugia, Partner within the firm’s Investment Services and Funds practice, participated at a FinanceMalta event in New York on the 30th of March. The event addressed two main topics – Asset Management and Pensions.

The first session reviewed the opportunities that Malta has to offer as a jurisdiction where various fund typologies (such as AIFs and UCITS Funds) can be set up. Mr Farrugia spoke about operating models to Passport Investment Management services to Europe, as well as on the opportunities presented by the AIFMD, EU VECA Regulation and the Long Term Investment Fund Regulation.

This was followed by a session highlighting the beneficial conditions for the structuring of International Pensions in Malta. Dr Brincat delivered a presentation on the evolving Pension’s regulatory and legal framework in Malta and also participated in a panel discussion on key opportunities presented in structuring International Pensions Products in Malta.
