Leonard Bonello and Paul Falzon attend London Passport to Regulators event

Leonard Bonello and Paul Falzon attended the ‘Passport to the Regulators’ event, organised by the Emerging Payments Association, at K&L Gates offices in London on 3rd October 2017.

The aim of the event was to get UK-based payment service providers and electronic money institutions thinking about their post-Brexit strategy. The Emerging Payments Association shortlisted Malta, together with five other jurisdictions, as being possible contenders for this space. The MFSA Chairman, Professor Joe Bannister, was present at the event to explain the applicable framework in this industry in Malta. Malta compares very favourably to other jurisdictions in this respect and has placed itself as a key contender for players seeking relocation. It is expected that Malta’s position as a jurisdiction of choice for payment service providers and electronic money institutions will continue to improve significantly over the coming years.
